JASON D.
KAUNE
(Marin County office) is a partner who specializes in political and initiative law
in California and the ethics, election, lobbying and campaign laws of the fifty
states, local and federal governments. He advises corporations,
advocacy groups, individuals and governments, with a focus on establishing
and maintaining national political law compliance programs. He has served as counsel and professional treasurer on ballot measures on issues ranging from land use to taxes.
Since 2000 he has been a co-author and faculty for the Practising
Law Institute's course on "Corporate Political Activities."
Mr. Kaune also authors an annual national compendium of campaign
finance law and litigation developments for the Council on
Governmental Ethics Laws. He has provided commentary for KTVU (Fox)
on election law issues and has represented clients before the California
Fair Political Practices Commission, the Federal Elections Commission,
and numerous other state and local agencies across the country. Mr. Kaune has
worked in the private and non-profit sectors, as a speech writer for
a national political party in Washington, D.C., and for the
presidential exploratory committee of a former state governor.
He graduated
from Harvard University, John F. Kennedy School of Government (with a
masters in public policy), University of California, Hastings
College of the Law and Yale College, cum laude. Mr. Kaune has published
articles and written studies on lobbying regulation in Russia,
public contracting, local
campaign finance laws and the administration of ethics laws by the White House Counsel's office.
