D. MARTLAND
(Sacramento office) is an expert in government law.
Prior to joining
the firm as of counsel, he represented the State of California as
an attorney for 29 years. He served for eight years as Chief Assistant
Attorney General in charge of the Civil Division and was the Attorney
General's principal legal advisor to three Governors. His areas
of responsibility included general state government, business and
tax, professional and vocational licensing, health and welfare,
and tort and condemnation. He has also served as an Assistant Attorney
General in charge of the Government Section.
He is a graduate
of Stanford University and received his legal degree from the University
of California, Boalt Hall School of Law.
