SEAN WELCH (Marin County office) is an associate in the firm's litigation and political law sections. He represents and counsels clients on election, campaign, and government law issues. Mr. Welch has significant experience guiding clients through the initiative and referendum process. In addition to successfully litigating multiple cases in this area of law, including the removal of unlawful petitions from the ballot, Mr. Welch has also served as legal counsel and Treasurer to several political committees in favor of or against ballot measures.

Prior to joining the firm, Mr. Welch practiced in the San Francisco office of Foley & Lardner LLP, where he represented public and corporate clients in matters ranging from public contracts and regulatory issues to antitrust and unfair competition disputes. While pursuing his J.D. at the University of California Hastings College of the Law (cum laude, 2003), he served as an extern clerk to the Hon. Phyllis Hamilton, United States District Court for the Northern District of California. Mr. Welch was also a member of the Hastings Communications and Entertainment Law Journal and was the Executive Editor of the Hastings Law News.

Mr. Welch received his bachelor's degree in political science from Brown University in 1996, and began his career as a consultant for Andersen Consulting (Accenture).
