Mr. Searcy is an associate in the firm’s Political Law Section, where he advises corporations, non-profits, trade associations, political committees, and individuals on election, campaign finance, lobbying, conflict of interest, “pay-to-play,” and government ethics laws at the federal, state, and local levels. He works with clients to develop multi-jurisdictional compliance programs, tailor internal policies to reflect corporate practices, support internal investigations, and draft policies, corporate governance documents, and regulatory filings. Mr. Searcy earned his Juris Doctor from the University of California, Davis School of Law, and his bachelor’s degree from the University of Michigan.
Prior to joining Nielsen Merksamer, Mr. Searcy worked in employment law where he provided advice and counsel on a wide range of issues, including employee handbooks, wage & hour compliance, employee classification, arbitration agreements, and employee complaints. Mr. Searcy also represented both corporations and individuals in employment law litigation.
Prior to law school, Mr. Searcy worked as a field representative for a newly elected California State Assemblymember, during which he developed the constituent outreach and services system for the district office. Mr. Searcy also worked on a successful Congressional Campaign as the Get-Out-The-Vote Director.
Mr. Searcy is a member of the California State Bar.
