Nielsen Merksamer Co-Chairs National Political Law Conference for 39th Consecutive Year

Nielsen Merksamer attorneys will again co-chair and serve as faculty for a conference in Washington D.C. on “Corporate Political Activities 2017: Complying with Campaign Finance, Lobbying and Ethics Laws” on September 7 and 8.

The Practising Law Institute (PLI) first introduced the program in July 1976.  Chip Nielsen, founder of our firm, has served as co-chair since 1978. Jason Kaune, head of the firm’s political law practice areas, has participated as faculty in the program for over fifteen years.  Firm attorneys Elli Abdoli, Jay Carson, Evann Whitelam, Joel Aurora, and Mike Columbo contributed to the course book, a valuable resource for in-house compliance attorneys nationally.

Participants in the conference experience a crash course in election-related issues, rules regarding PACs and super PACs, federal, state and local agency rulemaking and enforcement, pay-to-play and lobbying rules, and corporate compliance best practices. The faculty includes regulators and prominent practitioners from across the country. The program can be found here.
