Nielsen Merksamer is pleased to announce that Steve Merksamer and Chris Skinnell have been named Northern California Super Lawyers, and Elli Abdoli was named a Northern California Rising Star for 2020. The lists recognize leading attorneys in the State.

Additionally, Mr. Skinnell is the subject of a feature article entitled “The Electioneer.”

This is Merksamer’s tenth time being selected as a Super Lawyer, having been chosen previously in 2009-2012 and 2015-2019; it is Skinnell’s second time being selected as a Super Lawyer, having previously been named a Rising Star five times, from 2013-2017, and a Super Lawyer in 2019; and it is Ms. Abdoli’s fifth time being selected as a Rising Star, having been previously selected in 2016-2019.

Each year, only the top 5 percent of all attorneys in California are named as Super Lawyers. They are selected through peer nominations and evaluations along with third-party research. The selection process for Rising Stars is the same with the exception of peer evaluations. Rising Stars must be 40 years old or younger or in practice for 10 years or fewer. No more than 2.5 percent of all California lawyers are named to the Rising Stars list.
